    : Procurement Specialist I

    The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the USAC employee training program, micro-purchases, and basic services from vendors purchasing equipment, supplies, and basic services from vendors.  You’ll leverage your knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the professional field of procurement, while also using USAC-specific processes and your general aptitude for business to plan and accomplish goals. Most importantly, you’ll support your internal customers by individually, or through team management, writing requirements statements and evaluating vendor quotations and proposals to determine the best supplier for each project.



    Responsibilities include:

    • Procuring approved training as requested by staff
    • Assures a smooth procurement process from initial request to training payment
    • Complete and process forms for training and conference authorizations and licenses, certifications and memberships
    • Participating in the preparation of bid responses for potential and existing suppliers for commodities
    • Following established procurement policies, programs, and procedures that enhance operational efficiencies and promote cost effectiveness including standardization where possible.
    • Ensuring that RFQs and other associated procurement actions are consistent with USAC policy and other applicable regulations
    • Assuring and maintaining a smooth procurement process from initial request to invoice payment.
    • Participating in negotiations conducted with vendors to develop the contract price and terms.
    • Facilitating small and medium sized purchases.
    • Utilizing the corporate credit card program.
    • Collaborating with others to implement process improvements.
    • Participating in implementation of strategic initiatives.
    • Functioning as the business interface with USAC’s internal customers.
    • Participating in the preparation of request for quotes and proposals for potential and existing suppliers
    • Other duties, as assigned.


    About You:

    • You have 1 to 2 years of experience performing duties similar to those outlined above.
    • You have previous experience with a corporate credit card program
    • You are proficient with Microsoft Office products, and can competently use them (especially Excel) to create deliverables.
    • You love working in teams and as a team member, doubly so within cross-functional teams.
    • You have excellent interpersonal skills and are able to communicate information concisely and professionally.
    • You have the ability to conduct market research and evaluate pricing
    • You are a self-starter who is organized and can easily manage multiple tasks.
    • You are an analytical thinker who can analyze problems in order to develop solutions and recommendations


    The following skills are desired:

    • You have previous experience purchasing items such as office supplies, furniture, training, IT supplies, and professional services.

    You have previous experience facilitating and managing a corporate training program
